Previously involved with the project planning and certification efforts for a multi-site ISO/QS 9000 registration for a Specialty Flat-Rolled Steel company. Her responsibilities included internal audits and supplier quality assurance audits. Prior assignments included Area Technical Manager for process control functions for all strip finishing, which included 23 operating units, processing stainless and electrical coils from hot band to ship. Managing a team of engineers and welding & metallurgical technicians, efforts focused on identification and management of key process variables, continuous improvement projects and resolution of customer complaints.

A design leader at a Major Pittsburgh Engineering company with responsibility for the Q-BOP/Caster Computer Control System at a major Carbon Steel producer. Through her successful project management, she has led several major capital expenditures budgeting in excess of $2 million. Projects were fully automated control systems and contracted to attain 99.9% system reliability. While attending college and after college, she was a Systems Engineer developing optimized computer models for BOF charging and cold mill rolling performance.

Jeff Otte, (Former ASQ Pittsburgh Instructor)

Jeff Otte has 30 years experience in chemical process and nuclear R&D, analytical and environmental laboratories, safety, and manufacturing in technical, quality engineering, technical writing, consulting and management roles. He is currently employed by US Steel as a Quality Management Specialist for their Business Services Center (IT) for North America. As a consultant and trainer, Jeff’s clients include companies involved in military application R&D, automotive & basic metals manufacture, as well as analytical & medical devices.

Mr. Otte has been an instructor for this class for the past 12 years. Jeff has developed and provided training in ISO, Internal Auditing, Statistical Process Control, OSHA Safety, and other disciplines for the Community College of Allegheny County, New Century Careers, Stericycle, Inc., and Penn State University. With nearly 20-years experience in the Quality field, Jeff has successfully implemented A2LA (ISO 17025) and ISO 9000 registrations for multiple employers and clients.

Jeff has a self-designed Bachelors degree in Technical Writing/Chemistry from Pitt and a Masters in Adult Education from IUP. He holds ASQ certifications including CMQ/OE, CQE, CQA, and CSSGB. Jeff is a senior member of the ASQ, a Past Chair of the ASQ Pittsburgh section and has served the section as membership chair, section treasurer, newsletter editor, publications chair and as a member of the ISO Focus Group and the Education Committee. He is a former editor of the ASQ Quality Management Division’s newsletter, as well as a past councilor for Region 8 of the QMD.

Teresa Whitacre has over 15 years experience in the quality profession in a variety of industries, including plastic injection molding, medical device, glass, and chemical/allied products. Mrs. Whitacre, as a Quality Supervisor, has implemented quality programs in accordance with ISO/QS 9000 and FDA Good Manufacturing Practices. Mrs. Whitacre holds an ASQ , CQA, CQE, CQM/OE, CSSGB and CQT, B.S. in Quality Engineering, and A.A. in Liberal Arts. Mrs. Whitacre has instructed several courses in SPC, Mathematics, Problem Solving, Internal Auditing, and ISO/QS system standards, as well as the ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector and Certified Quality Technician. Mrs. Whitacre is a Senior member of ASQ, and a principal of Marketech Systems.

Nicholas D. Skovran is President of Quality Horizons, LLC and is responsible for operations excellence and quality practice. Quality Horizons assists organizations to excel in today's dynamic business environment. This is accomplished through a diversified array of speaking, consulting and seminar activities. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University and a Master of Science in Engineering Degree from the University of Dayton. He is a Certified ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), a RABQSA-QMS ISO auditor, a Senior Member of ASQ and a member of the American Statistical Association.

Dick Kish, (Former ASQ Pittsburgh Instructor)

Dick Kish has nearly thirty years experience in the nuclear field. He is a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer with Westinghouse. He is a Lead Auditor within the nuclear power industry and performs both national and international audits.

As a member of ASQ, Mr. Kish holds CQA and RABQSH-LA. He is currently serving as the ISO Auditing Group Chair and is a member of the Education committee for the ASQ Pittsburgh Section. Mr. Kish has lectured at the University of Pittsburgh, on Auditing Fundamentals, and has served as a speaker on ISO Auditing for numerous Pittsburgh organizations such as the Pittsburgh Area ISO Users Group. He is the author of the Study Guide for Certified Quality Auditor course which he has taught for ASQ since 1991.

Mr. Kish has a B.S. in Business Administration from University of Pittsburgh and an MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
