The process for being approved to take your ASQ Software Quality Assurance Certification or Recertification test is relatively simple with a little preparation to ensure you have all the items ready that you will need.
The first step is completing the minimum requirements for certification/recertification. To be eligible to apply, you will need to have the correct number of recertification units. For example, our CSQE training gives students credit for 21 hours of study (or 2.1 RU’s). RU’s of training are required to maintain your CSQE Certification by ASQ National.
After passing our Software Quality Assurance Course exam with at least an 80% pass rate (multiple attempts allowed), you can then apply for certification/recertification with your RU’s of training, if you have met the other requirements concerning job experience, education, etc.
For this certification, ASQ requires 8 years of on-the-job experience in one or more of the areas of Certified Software Quality Engineer Body of Knowledge and years of on-the-job experience in a decision-making position. [1]
Application Process
- Submit your Software Quality Assurance Certification Application
When you submit your application for certification or recertification, the review typically takes 1 –2 business days for online applications and 3 – 5 business days for hardcopy applications.
- ASQ Reviews Your Application
After ASQ completes the review process you will receive an approval notification via email or a “hold” message explaining that more information is needed for your application to be approved. If it is determined that you do not meet the minimum requirements for the exam you applied for, we will issue a refund of your application fee minus a $100 non-refundable processing fee. (1)
- ASQ CSQE Testing Options
- Computer-Based Testing (CBT): 1 – 2 business days after you receive your approval notification, you will receive an eligibility email containing instructions on how to schedule your exam with the ASQ testing provider.
- Paper-Based Testing (PBT): If you have registered for a paper-based or translated exam you will not receive an eligibility email. Instead, you will receive a seating letter with your exam details including time, and location approximately 2 weeks before your exam date.
